St. Vincent de Paul Society

Ministry Profile:  Inspired by Gospel values, the St. Vincent de Paul Society leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.  SVDP volunteers staff message lines Monday through Friday for neighbors in Highlands who call for assistance, meetings are then arranged, assessments made of individual needs, and then financial provisions are made.  In addition, SVDP volunteers raise funds through the Poor Boxes in church and also conduct monthly Giving Weekends after each Mass.  Special projects are also managed at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you would like to join the Society, please contact the rectory.

Christmas Giving Tree 2008

Another overwhelming response from our parishioners.  Many thanks for your generous efforts this holiday season!

Here's how we are helping our community this Thanksgiving holiday:

How can you help?  The Food Pantry is asking for donations of Thanksgiving food items to be left at the back of the church anytime before November 16th.  SVDP is asking for a donation of cash when you leave Mass on the Giving Weekend of November 22/23.  This money will be used to buy the basic items necessary for the dinner baskets.  The SVDP and Food Pantry will work together to coordinate who receives help with Thanksgiving dinner so that duplication will be avoided.

If you know someone who needs a Thanksgiving Dinner basket delivered to their home, call the rectory.

Giving Tree 2007

Parishioners took one (or more) of the tags from the tree, purchased a gift for that child, and returned the item to the church on December 14.

Gifts were distributed to families on December 16, just in time for Christmas.

We sincerely appreciate the kindness and overwhelming generosity of all our parishioners; please know that you have made this holiday a happy and joyful one for many children and families in our community.

God Bless our Parish Family!

Thanksgiving Baskets 2007

"Thank You"

Thanks to the caring of the parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, we were able to distribute 31 Thanksgiving baskets, which benefited 93 people, and we donated an additional 450 pounds of food to our local Food Pantry.

Truly Outstanding!  Thank you again!
